What Are The Best Colleges For Performing Music And/or The Music Business?

Filed Under: Narrotin News by admin — 8 Comments

I wanna be a professional musician when i grow up. I want to go to music school. What are the “ivy league” schools of music? in other words, wat are those few schools that are the best for music or the arts?
however, i dont just want to learn how to perform music, i want to learn about the business of it too, like producing, copyrighting, selling cds, running a studio, etc. . . what are the best schools for that?
and are there music schools that teach both performing arts and the business of music? if so, wat are the best schools for that?

GREAT question!! Check out Julliard. It is probably the best music school in the nation. If you are interested in performing arts (theater arts) and don’t mind intense competition, check out University of Michigan and New York University. These schools should have great business programs as well.
    Best of luck.

Julliard is one of the more famous schools and better schools to go to.

I would say Julliard, or Berkeley are the best two in the country for music in general. I think it’s possible to learn about the business of it as well in any music oriented institution. After all, I doubt they’d want you to just perform and not learn the business.

    In no order…
    Juilliard,
    Eastman,
    Indiana University,
    Oklahoma University,
    Temple University,
    New England Conservatory,
    Ithaca College,
    University of North Texas,
    Berklee,
    Cleveland Institute of Music,
    and Manhattan School of Music
…would have to top my personal list.

    Julliard for classical.
    Mannes for classical.
Berklee for everything else (guitar, performance, business, etc).
    Berklee’s your best bet! :-)
